This commemorative postage stamp was issued in 1963 (AH 1382) by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to participate in an international humanitarian postal initiative. By issuing this dedicated postal release, the Saudi postal network joined member nations across the world in a coordinated omnibus release, demonstrating the kingdom's formal support for international development programs and global relief initiatives. The issue was released to support the global "Freedom from Hunger" Campaign (Kifah al-Joo' / مكافحة الجوع), launched under the auspices of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. The worldwide movement aimed to raise public awareness of global food security challenges, mobilize financial resources, and mobilize agricultural development projects to fight poverty and malnutrition across developing nations.
