Issued in the 1960s as part of Saudi Arabia's definitive series depicting important religious and architectural landmarks, this stamp commemorates the new arcade of the Grand Mosque (Al-Masjid al-Haram) in Mecca. The arcade formed part of major expansion projects undertaken to accommodate the growing number of pilgrims visiting the holy city for Hajj and Umrah.
